Al Rayyes Family: A Humanitarian Journey
What began in 2025 as a grassroots effort around Yaser and his family gradually became the foundation of Pont de Mer Humanitaire. Since 2026, the organisation has formally supported the case alongside the medical, humanitarian and institutional partners involved.
One family, one emergency, one movement that became an organisation
From citizen action to coordinated humanitarian work
In 2025, Pont de Mer Humanitaire did not yet exist. Family members and local supporters rallied around Yaser and the Al Rayyes family to raise the alarm, document their needs and seek a safe evacuation route. That experience led to the creation of the organisation. Since its formal establishment in 2026, Pont de Mer Humanitaire has carried the case and coordinated the steps within its remit. Alongside humanitarian, medical, diplomatic and institutional partners, this sustained work of documentation, advocacy and liaison helped open the way for the evacuation carried out on 4 June 2026 under WHO coordination.
The wider context
In Gaza, many civilians face a collapse in access to care: damaged health infrastructure, scarce specialist treatment, severe movement restrictions, administrative barriers and uncertainty surrounding medical evacuation mechanisms.
This case concerns one family and a medical situation that requires careful coordination among relatives, healthcare professionals, hospitals, humanitarian organisations and public institutions.
